Solution: Replace the Control Panel

NOTE: To obtain a new Control Panel, contact support.

  1. Power OFF the printer using the power switch located under the interface cover on the right side of the printer. See the Related Items below for additional information. Make sure the printer has been off for one minute before proceeding to the next step.





    CAUTION: Make sure to read the static precautions below before replacing the Control Panel. Failure to follow the precautions may result in damage to the Control Panel and / or circuit board(s).

    Static electricity precautions:

    • Touch the bare metal frame often on the rear of the printer to discharge static electricity from your body.



    • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.



  2. Open the Exit Cover.



  3. Open the Front Door.





  4. Use a small coin to release the Control Panel cover from the top of the printer by following the steps below:
    1. Insert the coin under the right corner of the Control Panel cover.



    2. Turn the coin upward until the Control Panel cover is released from the right side cover assembly.



    3. Insert the coin under the left corner of the Control Panel cover, and then turn the coin upward until the Control Panel cover is released from the left side cover assembly.
    4. Lift and release the Control Panel cover from the printer.





  5. Turn the Control Panel over and place it on top of the printer.



  6. Disconnect the two white wiring harnesses and one ribbon cable connector from the Control Panel by pulling them out.







  7. Connect one ribbon cable and two white wiring harnesses to the new Control Panel.

    NOTE: The ribbon cable and two white harnesses can only be inserted into the connector one way. Be sure to align the groves on each side of the plug with the slots in the connector.







  8. Turn the Control Panel over. Align the blue clips of the Control Panel to the gray ribs of the paper guide.





  9. Re-install the Control Panel cover and snap it securely in place.





  10. Close the Exit Cover.



  11. Close the Front Door.



  12. Connect the printer’s power cord.
  13. Power ON the printer.
